Prime Minister Tarique Rahman Directs Education Ministry to Ease School-Hour Traffic Congestion in Dhaka
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has instructed the Education Ministry to find effective alternative measures to reduce traffic congestion in the capital during school hours.
The directive was given this morning during a meeting with Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon and State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj at the Bangladesh Secretariat.
Prime Minister’s Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman said the meeting discussed various possible ways to ease traffic pressure around schools and what alternative arrangements could be introduced.
“The Prime Minister has asked the ministry to prepare practical proposals in this regard,” Ruman added.
He explained that excessive private vehicles are causing severe traffic jams. “For instance, around 100 cars are often seen crowding in front of a school with only 150 students, creating major traffic disruptions and making it difficult for students to reach their institutions.”
The Premier advised the ministers to address this issue seriously and explore workable solutions.
Other Meetings After the meeting with the education ministers, Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Iqbal Hassan Mahmood Tuku and State Minister Aninda Islam Amit met with the Prime Minister.
Later, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral M Nazmul Hassan also called on Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
